Governance
Administration
CREW is administered by a partnership between the James Hutton Institute and The Marine Alliance for Science & Technology Scotland (MASTS).
Oversight
CREW recieves strategic advice, oversight and direction via a steering group. The group makes recommendations to ensure that the Centre meets its primary objective of providing clear scientific advice to inform key areas of government policy. Details of the steering group can be found here.
Stakeholders
CREW links with stakeholders through the Policy Research Advisory Group (PRAG). PRAG will advise on the operational delivery of CREW’s mission. The meetings will provide a forum for decisions, ratification of papers prepared by the administration team, and information-sharing between research, policy and CAMERAS groups on all aspects of the activities of CREW. Details of the PRAG can be found here.

Evaluation of CREW
The aim of CREW is to explore and improve communication among scientists, policy makers and practitioners to foster links that ensure research evidence is integrated in the policy development and implementation cycle. Effective communication of the evidence base is challenging and to date has not always been satisfactory. Therefore, improving our knowledge of how to communicate with each other and generate knowledge is essential.
CREW is carrying out a specific project to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of CREW, called Evaluating Science:Policy:Practice Interfaces (ESPPI:CREW). Specific activities and outputs in year 1 are focused on working with stakeholders and consolidating existing literature and knowledge exchange experiences to suggest good practice for CREW, and define the baseline for evaluating CREW activities. Experts from JHI and University of St Andrews are working on this project.
